About Us:
Protocol Education is a leading education recruitment agency specializing in matching dedicated professionals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) schools. We are currently recruiting for Behavioural Support Assistants to join our partner schools, providing tailored support to students with complex behavioural needs. If you are passionate about making a real difference and have experience in behaviour management, we want to hear from you!

The Role:
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in a SEND school environment. You will be responsible for supporting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping them manage their behaviour, engage in their learning, and develop key life skills. Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex behavioural needs to engage with their education and personal development.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with individual support plans.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping them develop social and emotional skills.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of individualised learning activities.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure that students’ needs are met.
  • Promote a safe and nurturing environment by helping students manage their behaviour in a constructive way.
  • Encourage students to participate in classroom activities and support their emotional well-being.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and contribute to the review of behaviour management plans.
  • Attend training sessions to continuously develop your skills in SEND and behaviour management.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in a behaviour support role, ideally within an education or care setting (experience in SEND is desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and an understanding of how to support students with complex behavioural needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students who may have challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to think on your feet.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a supportive, inclusive environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, health, or social care (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, NVQ, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential

Why Work With Protocol Education?

  • Access to a wide range of exciting opportunities in SEND schools.
  • Ongoing professional development and training in behavioural support and SEND.
  • A dedicated consultant to guide you throughout the recruitment process and beyond.
  • Competitive pay rates and a supportive working environment.
  • Opportunities for career progression and growth within the education sector.
