Role Definition

The Hygiene Minder will ensure that targets are met and regularly challenged and improved on. Delivering high standards of quality, ensuring product produced is to customer specification in line with critical control points, GMP and H&S requirements. Paying special regard to

  • Quality, cost control, yield and utilisation
  • Health, safety & ethics
  • Traceability,
  • Product integrity,
  • Labelling and company, personal & food hygiene rules and legislation

In chill production line area, conduct cleaning and hygiene operations, to deadlines, whilst complying at all times with company operating requirements

In full compliance with relevant Legal, National, Corporate and Retailer standards and delivering improved quality and hygiene to customers, internal and external and reduced complaints and cost to the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete required hygiene activities meeting company standards to planned volume and schedule
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality, food safety, hygiene, ethical, product labelling and allergen handling processes
  • Support necessary line efficiency through consistent and correct schedule adherence and hygiene practices
  • Ensure strict adherence to the cleaning frequency schedule to meet the set down cleaning instruction methodology for all machinery on site.
  • Ensure to escalate problems to the Hygiene Supervisor, Manager and engineering dept with aim to resolve prior to production start-up
  • Ensure machine setting /minding duties completed to the required standards while monitoring the integrity of the machines.
  • Keep and maintain hygiene minder appropriate records as required
  • Ensure own familiarity and compliance with company policies and procedures, standards of operation and safe operating procedures
  • Ensure consistent and timely attendance at work
  • Provide flexibility to meet company operating requirements
  • Provide pro- and re-active and supportive verbal and written communication to team members, supervisors and managers.
  • Deliver proper use of chemicals, adherence to food and personal safe working practices at all times
  • Ensure audit readiness
  • Support best team performance, efficiency, service levels, customer complaints and employee engagement
  • Invest in own learning and development and support that of others
  • Support trainee development to ensure the 'next generation' workforce
  • To ensure all Scotbeef products are sourced and manufactured to the Food Safety & Brand Integrity requirements defined by our customers' requirements & BRC standards.


Personal Specification

  • Speaking, writing and understanding basic spoken and written English language. (This is an essential health & safety, traceability and quality control requirement which will be tested as part of the recruitment process N.B. English language support available)
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Attentive to detail - diligent pursuit of best standards
  • Working in a chilled environment
  • Flexible, adaptable and keen to learn
  • Learning and implementing new information quickly
  • Strong team collaborator


Pay & Shift Pattern: Ranges from £13.80 to £14.07 per hour, varied, 40 hours per week
