We're looking for a Specialist Technician to join our team, playing a key role in ensuring the specialist safety and utility equipment used across our business is maintained to the highest standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong electrical and technical background who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and working with a wide range of specialist equipment. You'll help ensure our operational teams have safe, compliant and reliable equipment available whenever they need it.

Working from our workshop, you'll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, calibrating, repairing and certifying a variety of safety, detection and utility equipment, providing technical expertise and supporting the safe delivery of our projects.

Here are some of the activities you'll be involved in...

  • Calibrating, testing, servicing and certifying Cable Avoidance Tools (CATs) and Signal Generators (Gennys).
  • Inspecting, maintaining and certifying safety harnesses, lanyards, fall arrest equipment, retrieval devices and davit systems.
  • Servicing, repairing and maintaining generators and associated electrical equipment.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting electric butt fusion welding equipment and accessories.
  • Carrying out fault finding, diagnosis and repairs on electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Undertaking component-level repairs, including soldering and circuit board repairs where appropriate.
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards and company procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate servicing, calibration, inspection and certification records.
  • Managing spare parts, consumables and workshop stock levels.
  • Providing technical advice and support to depot and operational teams.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.

We would love to hear from you if...

You have proven experience working with electrical systems, circuitry and electronic components, together with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Additionally, confident carrying out repairs on specialist technical equipment and be experienced in soldering and replacing electronic components where required.

You'll have a good understanding of electrical testing and inspection processes and experience maintaining electrical equipment, ideally within a workshop, engineering, utilities or plant environment. Able to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics and take a methodical approach to diagnosing faults and delivering high-quality repairs.

Experience servicing specialist utility and safety equipment, including CAT & Genny equipment, gas detection monitors, safety harnesses, fall arrest systems, davit systems or electric butt fusion welding equipment, would be highly advantageous.

You are organised, detail-focused and committed to maintaining accurate records, ensuring all equipment remains compliant, safe and ready for operational use. Along with being comfortable working independently whilst also collaborating with colleagues to support operational teams across the business.

Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems, are essential.

A PAT Testing qualification, electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent, together with knowledge of LOLER inspection requirements, would be advantageous

A full UK Driving Licence is also essential.
