Learning Support Assistant

Protocol Education is working in partnership with primary schools in BS6 to recruit Humanities graduates for Learning Support Assistant (LSA) roles starting in September.

If you've recently completed your degree, or you're exploring a future career in education, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience from the start of the new academic year. By beginning your registration and clearance over the summer holidays, you'll be ready to step into a school as soon as September arrives.

Your subject knowledge, curiosity about the world, and understanding of people, places and the past are highly valued in the classroom. Humanities graduates often bring excellent communication skills, empathy, organisation and the ability to make learning engaging and relevant—all qualities that make an outstanding Learning Support Assistant.

The Role

As an LSA, you'll support pupils in the classroom, working one-to-one and with small groups to help them build confidence, stay engaged and access their learning. This may include supporting literacy, topic-based learning, classroom discussions, or providing additional encouragement and structure for pupils who need it.

You'll work closely with experienced teachers, developing your understanding of behaviour management, lesson delivery and inclusive practice. It's an ideal stepping stone if you're considering teacher training or a long-term career in education.

Get Ready Over the Summer

To ensure you're ready to start work in September, we'll help you complete your registration and compliance during the summer holidays.

We'll need:

• A valid passport
• Two proofs of address (for example, a driving licence, utility bill or council tax letter)
• An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
• Two years of references, including childcare or education where applicable
• An Overseas Police Check (OSPC) if you've lived overseas for three months or more during the last five years

Complete your clearance over the summer and be ready to make a positive impact in the classroom from the very first weeks of the new school year

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
