Job description

Do you have a passion for helping children succeed and reach their full potential?

Protocol Education is working with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools in Cotham and the surrounding Bristol area who are looking for enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their teams from September.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils build confidence, overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. Whether supporting children on a one-to-one basis or working with small groups, you'll make a genuine difference to their educational journey every day.

Schools are looking for positive, proactive individuals who are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels supported, valued and encouraged to thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils who require additional assistance
  • Leading small group interventions and learning activities
  • Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging and structured lessons
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and participation in learning
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or in a child-focused role
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
  • Confidence building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An understanding of SEN is desirable but not essential
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

What We Need to Clear You

  • Passport or proof of right to work in the UK
  • Two proofs of address (e.g. driving licence, utility bill, council tax statement)
  • CV covering the last 10 years of work and/or education, with any gaps explained
  • References covering the last 2 years (including childcare references where applicable)
  • Overseas police check if you have lived abroad for 3 months or more within the last 5 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
