Job description

Your next teaching role could be closer than you think.

We're working with a range of welcoming primary schools across Redbridge looking for enthusiastic and committed Year 6 Teachers who can build confidence, inspire ambition, and help pupils finish primary school feeling ready for whatever comes next.

Year 6 is a truly rewarding year to teach. It's about so much more than SATs. It's the final chapter of a child's primary journey, where confidence grows, independence shines, and pupils prepare for the exciting step into secondary school. If you enjoy helping children rise to a challenge, celebrate their progress, and leave primary school believing in themselves, we'd love to hear from you.

Every Year 6 class is different, and every school has its own personality, but they all share the same goal, giving pupils the knowledge, resilience, and self-belief they need to thrive beyond the classroom.

If you're someone who can create engaging lessons, keep pupils motivated, and make even the busiest term enjoyable, this could be your perfect next move.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Preparing pupils for SATs while maintaining a broad, balanced, and enjoyable curriculum
  • Helping children develop the confidence, resilience, and independence they'll need as they move into secondary school
  • Creating a positive, inclusive classroom where every child feels supported, challenged, and valued
  • Adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND and EAL
  • Monitoring progress through ongoing assessment and using this to shape future learning
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants, colleagues, and parents to support every child's success
  • Managing behaviour with consistency, encouragement, and high expectations
  • Contributing to the wider school community and maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding

What we're looking for:

The right fit for this role will be someone who:

  • Holds UK QTS
  • Has recent experience teaching in a UK primary school, ideally within Key Stage 2
  • Has a strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum, SATs expectations, and preparing pupils for secondary school
  • Creates engaging lessons that challenge, motivate, and inspire every learner
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Brings enthusiasm, organisation, and a supportive approach to the classroom

Why work with Protocol Education?

We keep it simple. Honest conversations, clear communication, and schools that genuinely match what you're looking for.

You'll benefit from:

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy
  • Personalised support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND, and alternative settings
  • A smooth, straightforward registration process
  • A referral scheme that genuinely rewards you

Find a role that genuinely fits you.

Send your CV to thomas.harrington@protocol-education.com and let's find the right Year 6 classroom for you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
