Housekeeper

19.5 hours per week, 8 am - 2 pm

Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday

Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

To provide a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control throughout the dementia care home, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The Housekeeper will work with compassion and dignity, recognising the unique needs of people living with dementia and contributing to their wellbeing and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and offices to a high standard.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment throughout the home.
• Carry out laundry duties, including washing, drying, ironing, and returning residents' clothing and bedding.
• Follow infection control, COSHH, and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals and report any maintenance issues or hazards.
• Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and household stock as required.
• Treat residents with dignity, respect, and compassion, promoting their wellbeing and comfort.
• Support a dementia-friendly environment by understanding and responding appropriately to residents' needs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the home.
• Attend mandatory training and comply with all safeguarding, confidentiality, and company policies.

Person Specification:

• Reliable and hardworking with a positive attitude.
• Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Caring and respectful approach towards older people and those living with dementia.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Previous housekeeping, cleaning, or care home experience.
• Basic knowledge of dementia care, infection control, and health and safety procedures.
