Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming primary school. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils during a crucial stage of their learning journey.
The Role
Working closely with the Year 1 class teacher, you will provide general classroom support while delivering targeted interventions to help pupils develop their literacy skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing general classroom support within a Year 1 setting.
- Delivering phonics interventions to small groups and individual pupils.
- Supporting pupils during guided reading sessions.
- Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
- Encouraging pupil engagement and confidence in learning.
- Supporting the teacher in maintaining high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working within a primary school setting.
- Has a good understanding of phonics and early reading development.
- Is confident delivering small-group and one-to-one interventions.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Is proactive, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting children's learning.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Is committed to maintaining high classroom standards and supporting pupil progress.
