Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a wide range of mainstream schools, specialist provisions, SEN schools and alternative settings across Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Havering and surrounding boroughs. We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistants to support pupils in developing their communication skills, confidence and independence.

The Role

As a Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with speech, language and communication needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Deliver targeted communication interventions under the guidance of Speech and Language Therapists, SENCOs and teaching staff.
  • Assist pupils in working towards their EHCP targets and individual learning goals.
  • Use visual aids, communication systems and specialist resources to support learning and engagement.
  • Encourage social interaction, language development and confidence within the classroom environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and support staff.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting.
  • An interest in speech and language development, SEND, psychology or therapy-based support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Health & Social Care, Linguistics or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
