Learning Support Assistant – College
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £90 - £115 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential? We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive college environment, working closely with students with a range of additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide both educational and personal support to students, helping them develop their independence, confidence, and life skills. The role may involve personal care, so applicants should be comfortable supporting students with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN and additional learning needs
- Assist students with accessing lessons, completing activities, and developing their independence
- Support students with communication, emotional regulation, social skills, and everyday life skills
- Provide personal care support where required, always maintaining students' dignity, privacy, and wellbeing
- Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, families, and other professionals to support individual student needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
- Experience within a school, college, care, support work, or similar environment is advantageous
- Comfortable providing personal care when required
- Patient, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with students
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
