Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist school in the Andover area. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive educational setting, helping children and young people with a range of additional needs to achieve their full potential.
The school supports pupils with autism, communication difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Through a structured and nurturing approach, the school provides a positive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and the skills needed for future success.
This role would suit individuals who are committed to supporting young people and are looking to build a rewarding career within education. Applications are welcomed from both experienced Learning Support Assistants and individuals with transferable skills gained in care, youth work, healthcare, coaching, childcare, customer service or other support-focused roles.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils both academically and personally. You will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment, encouraging engagement and promoting pupils' social, emotional and educational development.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils

Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning where appropriate

Promoting pupils' confidence, communication and independence

Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Building professional and supportive relationships with pupils

Encouraging the development of social and life skills throughout the school day

Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff

Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and enrichment activities
About You
We are looking for individuals who are patient, reliable and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
