£13.45 per hour

Two positions available -

20 hour part time contract & 37.5 Hours full time contract.

Who this position suits:

This role is for anyone who wants to make a real difference, whatever your age, background, or gender (unless the role is gender specific)

You don't need to have worked in care before if you're kind, patient, and willing to learn, we'll support you every step of the way.

It could suit someone who's helped others in customer service, childcare, hospitality, teaching, or volunteering, or someone simply looking for a more meaningful job.

If you're the type of person who enjoys listening, lending a hand, and helping others live life to the fullest, you'll fit right in here.

NB: This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under current UK Home Office rules, as it does not meet the required salary or skill level criteria.

Whilst we encourage applications to other roles, candidates who already have a valid right to work in the UK through other immigration routes or permissions must meet the minimum eligibility of having at least two years remaining on your current visa.

About Howard Place:

Howards Place is a lively and welcoming home in Carlisle, where you'll support four men with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, epilepsy and behaviours of concern to live full, active and rewarding lives.

This is a service where no two days are ever the same, and where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.

The people we support love getting out and about and enjoy a wide range of activities.

Whether it's swimming, bowling, playing tennis, catching the bus into town, enjoying weekends away or taking part in community events, you'll be there to encourage independence, build confidence and create memorable experiences.

Some of the people we support benefit from structured daily routines, so we're looking for someone who is reliable, patient and consistent in their approach.

Building trusting relationships and providing personalised, person-centred support is at the heart of everything we do.

As a Support Worker, you'll help people with everyday living, including preparing meals, developing life skills, managing routines and supporting them to achieve their personal goals.

It is a physical role and there is a requirement for lots of walking and taking people out, swimming, tennis, gym etc.

The days are routine and structured to meet the needs of people, good timekeeping is essential, being late disrupts the days routine and can cause anxiety and behaviours.

Shift Patterns

This role involves a mixture of day shifts and sleep-ins, including:

Day shifts: 8:30am to 6:30pm

Long day with sleep-in: 10:00am to 11:00pm, followed by a sleep-in, then 7:00am to 10:00am the following morning

Sleep-ins are a regular part of the role, with between one and three sleep-ins each week, depending on the needs of the service.
