Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and specialist primary school in the Portsmouth area. This fantastic opportunity is ideal for someone looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is a full-time position starting in September, making it the perfect opportunity for someone looking to begin the new academic year in a rewarding and meaningful role.

No two days are the same, and every day brings the chance to celebrate meaningful progress with incredible young learners.

Working Hours

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 9:00am – 3:30pm

  • Thursday: 9:00am – 4:30pm

  • Full-time position

  • Start Date: September

Pay

  • £14.25 per hour

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver engaging learning experiences.

  • Build positive relationships that help children feel safe, confident, and valued.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs.

  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development.

  • Help create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Previous experience in education, care, or support work is welcomed but not essential—your attitude and commitment are what matter most.

Essential Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or

  • Be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel before starting employment.
