Job description

Candlelight Care are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and reliable individuals to join our friendly, family-run team. In this role, you'll support vulnerable adults in the comfort of their own homes across Trowbridge, Wiltshire and the surrounding areas.

We have both full-time and part-time opportunities available, with typical shifts from 7am-2pm and/or 4pm-10pm. You'll also be expected to work alternate weekends.

Driving is not always essential depending on your location.

Candlelight Care has been supporting people of all ages in their own homes for over 38 years. We're proud to be a multi-award winning Top 20 Recommended Home Care Group in the UK, most recently recognised in 2024 by homecare.co.uk.

Key Responsibilities:

Every day is different in Health and Social Care. In this role you should expect to get to know your clients, their interests and individual needs. You will provide both emotional and practical support, such as assisting with personal care (washing, toileting, dressing) domestic household tasks and meal preparation.

You will also be supporting clients with medication, mobility aids and personal equipment where required, and have a responsibility to monitor overall wellbeing and report to the Registered Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a client. We encourage our clients to remain as independent as possible while ensuring their wellbeing is always supported and safeguarded.

What We Offer

We believe in supporting our team just as much as our clients. In return, you'll receive:

  • Competitive Mileage and Paid Travel time
  • Full training and ongoing development, including opportunities to gain NVQ qualifications
  • Blue Light Discount Card
  • Annual Awards Ceremony to recognise your hard work
  • Company Smartphone
  • 28 days holiday (pro-rata)
  • Employee Assistance Programme for confidential support when you need it
  • Workplace Pension (subject to conditions)
  • Uniform and PPE provided
  • A rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for people who are:

  • Kind, empathetic and genuinely motivated to help others.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Calm, patient and able to handle challenging situations.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is helpful, although walking or cycling routes may be available in some areas, so please enquire as to whether we have current availability.

Candlelight Care is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to ensuring that all job applicants are treated equally, without discrimination because of gender, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital or civil partner status or pregnancy and maternity. We therefore positively encourage applications from all suitably qualified and eligible job applicants.
