Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner for the right person)

Ready to take the next step in your education career?

We're working with a fantastic primary school in Leeds that's looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is the kind of school where staff feel valued, children are at the heart of everything they do, and teamwork really makes the difference. If you're passionate about supporting pupils, leading learning, and helping children reach their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.

What makes this school stand out?

✅ Supportive and approachable leadership team
✅ Friendly, welcoming staff who work collaboratively
✅ Well-behaved, enthusiastic pupils who love learning
✅ Excellent CPD and career development opportunities
✅ A positive school community where everyone is valued
✅ The opportunity to make a real impact both inside and outside the classroom

The role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You'll work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted interventions, and occasionally lead whole-class learning when required.

You'll be:

  • Delivering planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher

  • Supporting teaching and learning across a range of year groups

  • Leading small group and one-to-one interventions to help pupils reach their full potential

  • Working closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities

  • Supporting pupils with varying learning needs, including those with SEND

  • Building positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and a love of learning

  • Helping to create a calm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and supporting pupils' personal development

What we're looking for

  • HLTA status or significant experience working at HLTA level

  • Experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary school

  • Confidence leading whole-class learning when required

  • Strong behaviour management and excellent classroom presence

  • A flexible, proactive, and positive approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their best

Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

And if you're Thrive trained, even better. If not, no worries, we can help with that too. Protocol Education offers FREE Thrive training, giving you practical strategies to support pupils' emotional wellbeing and helping you build even more confidence in the classroom.

Ready to make a difference?

If you're looking for a rewarding permanent role where every day brings the opportunity to inspire young learners and support their success, we'd love to hear from you.
