The Safeguarding & Care Planning Service (East & West) work with children & families following transfer from the Referral & Assessment Service, which occurs if a child/young person is made subject to a Child in Need or Child Protection Plan. Children in Need qualify if they meet through assessment Tier 2.5-3 on the Bromley Safeguarding Continuum of Need and Intervention. The service have a specialist Court Team but at times East and West practitioners will also hold care proceeding cases and work with children & families where the PLO framework has been initiated .
All decisions to initiate care proceedings or PLO are made through a weekly Legal Gateway meeting chaired by a Safeguarding Head of Service.

We work to the Bromley Relationship Model of practice and training in ‘BRM’ is delivered by our Principal Social Worker . This model is all about relationships and reflection , working with families rather than ‘to’ them , helping them find solutions to what difficulties they face in order to empower .
