Secondary 1:1 Tutor – Wellingborough

Location: Wellingborough and surrounding areas

Hours: Flexible, Part-time (Monday to Friday, school hours)

Pay Rate: Competitive (dependent on assignment and Local Authority)

About the Role

TP Tutors is seeking experienced Secondary 1:1 Tutors to deliver personalised educational support to students in homes or school settings across Wellingborough and the surrounding areas. This role focuses on supporting secondary-aged pupils who may be out of mainstream education, require academic intervention, or have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in English, Maths, Science, and other secondary curriculum subjects aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet each student's individual learning needs, abilities, and academic goals.
  • Support vulnerable learners and students requiring targeted intervention to improve attainment and confidence.
  • Track academic and personal progress, completing detailed session logs after every session.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, Local Authorities, and families to achieve positive educational outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence, resilience, and independence.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience delivering the UK Secondary National Curriculum is essential.
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach to supporting learners.
  • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Travel: A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle is desirable due to travel between tuition locations.
