Make a Real Difference Every School Day

Are you looking for a rewarding role where your support can have a lasting impact on the lives of young people?

We're looking for caring, positive and motivated Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist school in the Andover area. The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Whether you're already working in education or you're looking for a new and meaningful career, this could be the perfect opportunity. We welcome applications from people with a variety of backgrounds, including care, youth work, coaching, healthcare, customer service and support work. If you enjoy helping others, are eager to learn and want to make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.

The school provides a welcoming, structured and supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed. With small class sizes and a collaborative staff team, you'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with pupils and see the positive impact of your support every day.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to help pupils engage with learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their individual goals.

Every day is different, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning where needed

  • Encouraging confidence, communication and independence

  • Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and develop positive behaviours

  • Building trusting and supportive relationships

  • Promoting social development and everyday life skills

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider school team

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and enrichment activities

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who are patient, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.

Experience is welcomed but isn't essential. We value the right attitude just as much as previous experience, and full support will be provided as you settle into the role.

You may have experience in:

  • Education or classroom support

  • Care or support work

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Residential care

  • Mental health support

  • Sports coaching

  • Nursery or childcare

  • Healthcare

  • Customer service or community-based roles where you've supported and built relationships with others

If you're a calm communicator, enjoy working as part of a team and want a role where no two days are the same, we'd encourage you to apply.

What's On Offer

  • Term-time only working, giving you a great work-life balance

  • Ongoing training and professional development

  • A friendly, supportive and experienced staff team

  • Valuable experience within specialist education and SEND

  • A genuinely rewarding role where you'll see the difference you make every day

  • Opportunities for long-term career development within education and SEND

All successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding checks in line with safer recruitment procedures.

If you're looking for a role where your patience, encouragement and support can help young people thrive, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today with your up-to-date CV and take the next step towards a rewarding career in education.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
