GSL Education Hull are currently recruiting for an experienced Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and aspirational secondary school in Hull, supporting pupils aged 11–16.

The school is committed to creating a positive, supportive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential. Strong relationships between staff and pupils are at the heart of its approach, with dedicated pastoral support available to help students overcome challenges and engage positively with their education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor who is confident managing classrooms, promoting positive behaviour and ensuring pupils remain focused on their learning.

The Role as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the usual teacher, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials.

  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently.

  • Encourage pupils to remain focused, engaged and on task.

  • Create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

  • Follow school policies, including behaviour management and safeguarding procedures.

  • Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate member of staff.

The Ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar classroom-based role is essential.

  • Confident managing secondary-aged pupils and maintaining classroom expectations.

  • Strong communication, organisation and behaviour management skills.

  • Reliable, proactive and able to use initiative.

  • Passionate about supporting pupils' learning, progress and wellbeing.
