Job description

Payroll Officer

Are you someone who takes pride in getting the details right — especially when it comes to people’s pay? We’re looking for a Payroll Officer who can manage our end-to-end payroll process with accuracy, care, and a collaborative approach.

In this role, you’ll make sure everyone gets paid correctly and on time, keep us compliant with all payroll legislation, and work closely with teams across the organisation to keep our data and systems running smoothly. You’ll also help us spot opportunities to improve how we do things and make payroll simpler and more efficient for everyone involved.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Running the full payroll cycle, from start to finish
  • Checking rota and timesheet data and sorting out any discrepancies
  • Maintaining up-to-date payroll records for new starters, leavers, and any changes
  • Posting payroll transactions and reconciling accounts
  • Making sure we meet all HMRC and pension reporting requirements
  • Supporting audits and staying up to date with payroll legislation
  • Working with the People Team to ensure payroll and HR data align perfectly
  • Answering payroll and pension queries and helping colleagues understand their payslips and deductions
  • Looking for ways to streamline our processes and make continuous improvements

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid experience in payroll processing and administration
  • A strong understanding of UK payroll legislation
  • Confident using payroll and accounting software (Sage Payroll or similar is a bonus!)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a knack for solving problems
  • Great communication skills and a collaborative attitude
  • A commitment to confidentiality and data protection

It’s a plus if you also have

  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience supporting audits or financial reporting
  • Familiarity with rota and timesheet systems
  • Experience working in care or support services

💡 If you’re organised, proactive, and ready to make a real impact in a role that keeps everything (and everyone!) running smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.
