Job description

Job description

Are you ambitious for all our young people and their life chances? Would you like to benefit from superb professional development opportunities and to work in one of the best equipped schools in the county? If so, then we would be very interested in hearing from you and supporting you in a relocation to the Lake District.

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a professional and talented Teacher of English. This would be on a permanent basis starting September 2024.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful, and rapidly developing academy. We are driven by a forward-thinking philosophy and a vibrant, positive culture. In a friendly and welcoming school, with supportive colleagues, you'll be able to make a real impact on our academy, and on the lives of children across the country.

Over the past two years, the school has undergone a rapid transformation with excellent standards and outcomes becoming just part of who we are as a school. This makes it a very exciting time to join our school and be part of a great community.

We are an inclusive employer and are happy to consider flexible working practices, part time or a job share if they will benefit you and the students of the Academy.

About You

You're an inspirational practitioner, knowledgeable regarding the curriculum, and an exemplary pedagogy practitioner. Pro-active, flexible and enthusiastic, you bring the innovation and commitment to teach English across KS3, KS4 and KS5. Keeping your subject exciting, relevant and enjoyable, you'll create an ambitious, innovative and motivating classroom. You'll inspire and challenge your students so that they develop into highly effective, independent learners and achieve their individual potential.

Reward

Being part of United Learning, one of the leading school groups in the country, we offer unrivalled career development opportunities and support to ensure you achieve your ambitions. United Learning has teamed up with Perkbox to offer you over 250 exclusive benefits, all through their easy-to-access platform and mobile app. Featuring a huge range of perks from discounted cinema tickets and holidays, to money off meals out at restaurants and savings on food, gym memberships, technology and clothes shopping. They also offer salary sacrifice schemes such as gym membership and Cycle to Work – which offer tax and NI savings on new bikes and fitness.

Every employee in United Learning will receive:

  • An exceptional salary, above the maintained sector - up to 5% for ECT’s;
  • At least 8 INSET days per year in all our academies, with 3 dedicated to planning;
  • Continuing Professional Development options - Tailored to your needs;
  • The opportunity to save money across hundreds of major retailers;
  • Competitive maternity, paternity and adoption benefits;
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme;
  • The scope for flexible working.

In addition, Central Academy offers an additional 5% PPA to all teachers, making the standard PPA 15% in the Academy.

United Learning and the Academy are equally ambitious as we strive to bring out ‘The best in everyone’.

If you would like to have an informal discussion or tour of the Academy, please contact Linda Farish, Principal’s PA, on 01228 822060 or at

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

The Academy reserves the right to interview and/or make an appointment before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found so therefore early applications are encouraged.
