SEND 1 : 1 Teaching Assistant Needed – Stockton-on-Tees

Are you an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant with the skills to support children with challenging behaviour ? We’re recruiting for a 1 : 1 role in a welcoming school in Stockton-on-Tees , working closely with a child who needs consistent, tailored support.

About the Role :

Position : 1 : 1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Location : Stockton-on-Tees

Start Date : ASAP

Hours : Full-time, term-time only

Contract : Ongoing supply, with potential for long-term placement

You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide structured, individualised support to help the child access the curriculum and thrive in a safe, supportive environment.

Responsibilities :

Providing 1 : 1 support for a child with identified behavioural needs

Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a positive, consistent way

Implementing behaviour strategies and personalised support plans

Promoting emotional regulation and social skills

Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

Requirements :

Experience supporting children with SEND and / or behavioural needs

Strong behaviour management skills and calm, patient approach

A resilient and empathetic attitude

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain)

Team Teach or similar training is an advantage (not essential)

A genuine commitment to helping children succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
