Job description

Introduction

Are you a passionate and experienced clinical pharmacist looking to step into a senior role where your expertise can truly make a difference? At NHS Forth Valley, we are excited to welcome a new Senior Clinical Pharmacist to our Mental Health Specialties team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to shape and deliver outstanding pharmacy services within a supportive and innovative environment. Whether you're seeking a part-time schedule that suits your work-life balance, we warmly invite you to consider joining our team on a permanent basis.

About the Role

As a Senior Clinical Pharmacist in our mental health specialties, you will play a key role in leading, developing, and evaluating advanced clinical pharmacy services for a diverse patient population—including adults, older people, those in forensic settings, and individuals with learning disabilities. Working in close partnership with our Lead Pharmacist, you will champion the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred pharmaceutical care in both acute hospital and community settings. Your expertise will be valued as you resolve complex medication issues, conduct medication reviews, and support safe prescribing practices, with opportunities to develop your skills as a pharmacist prescriber. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. You will work alongside dedicated medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, as well as community pharmacy colleagues, ensuring seamless transitions of care for our patients and fostering a spirit of teamwork within the multidisciplinary team.

What We Offer

We are committed to helping you thrive from day one, offering a comprehensive induction program designed to support your transition into your new role and team. Ongoing professional development is a cornerstone of our culture; you’ll have access to continuous training and CPD. Our workplace is friendly, positive, and deeply collaborative, with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to innovation and best practice in mental health care.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a Masters of Pharmacy (or equivalent), be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth. Significant experience of working with patients with a mental health diagnosis and/or learning disabilities is essential. You’ll be known for your strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and natural leadership abilities, as well as your capacity to work both independently and as a valued member of our team. If you have experience as a pharmacist prescriber or hold postgraduate qualifications related to mental health pharmacy, that’s a wonderful bonus, but genuine enthusiasm and dedication to high-quality care are what matters most.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
