Job description

Associate Teacher

Location: Canterbury
Salary Scale: £95++ per day, depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Ongoing
Contract Type: Long Term, Full-time

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a positive difference to children’s learning, confidence and development?

GSL Education Kent are currently recruiting a dedicated Associate Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Canterbury. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring teacher, graduate or experienced education professional looking to develop their classroom experience while supporting pupils’ academic progress and personal development.

As an Associate Teacher, you will work alongside the teaching team to support the delivery of engaging learning activities, help pupils overcome barriers to learning and encourage positive attitudes towards education. You will play an important role in creating a supportive classroom environment where children feel motivated, included and confident.

This friendly and inclusive primary school provides a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. The school promotes strong relationships, high expectations and a supportive approach to learning, ensuring pupils feel valued, motivated and confident throughout their educational journey.

The successful Associate Teacher will support teaching and learning across the primary setting, working with pupils individually, in small groups and, where appropriate, with the wider class. You will help deliver learning activities, reinforce key concepts and contribute to pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing.

We are looking for an Associate Teacher who is enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to helping children succeed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children in a primary school, educational or mentoring setting, or a strong interest in developing a career in education

  • Support the delivery of engaging learning activities across the primary curriculum

  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis to reinforce learning

  • Help develop pupils’ literacy, numeracy, confidence and independence

  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation and a love of learning

  • Adapt support to meet pupils’ individual learning needs and abilities

  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff while contributing to an inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to support pupils’ progress and wellbeing

Experience in a school, tutoring or classroom support environment would be advantageous. Applications from graduates and aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable experience in primary education are also welcome.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or completing an application for a new check.

We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited education-relevant CPD courses.

In addition, GSL Education is currently offering £100 for the successful referral of either Teachers or Teaching Assistants (Ts & Cs apply).

For more information or to register your interest in the Associate Teacher role, please click ‘apply now’ to submit your full and up-to-date CV, and one of our dedicated consultants will be in touch.

GSL Education is an ethical, inclusive, independent recruitment agency committed to providing quality teaching and support staff to schools throughout Canterbury and the surrounding areas.
