SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary Scale: £14.24 to £15.33 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Bovington

Do you have any experience of working with children/young people?

Have you got any personal experience supporting children with SEN?

GSL Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a SEN school in Bovington. In this role, you will provide dedicated support to students with sensory and speech difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and succeed in the classroom. They need a dedicated individual who can implement behaviour management strategies and positively influence students’ learning experiences.

Many students also have additional needs such as autism, speech and language challenges, or medical conditions. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum with a strong focus on outdoor learning, life skills, the arts, and preparation for adulthood. There is a whole-school emphasis on communication, independence, and personal development, ensuring pupils are well-prepared for their next stage in life. Staff are highly valued, with excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression.

We are looking for an empathetic and driven SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team and make a lasting impact. In this role, you will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and group support
  • Encourage independence and life skills development
  • Support creative and outdoor learning activities
  • Foster confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications and skills of SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Passionate about working with children and young people with special needs
  • A strong communicator, confident working with students, staff, parents and professionals
  • Kind, patient and full of enthusiasm
  • Committed to the values of inclusion, respect and community
  • A team player who is also proactive and reflective
  • Experience is helpful, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are even more important.
