We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Maths Tutor to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our ideal candidate will not only be skilled in teaching mathematics but will also be able to offer emotional and behavioral support to help students who have experienced gaps in their education and may feel anxious or overwhelmed by learning.
Key Responsibilities :
Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to the needs of students with SEMH challenges, focusing on building both maths skills and emotional resilience.
Help students improve their maths abilities (e.g., arithmetic, algebra, geometry, problem-solving) while ensuring a supportive and patient environment.
Provide emotional support to students, helping them manage their anxiety, stress, or other emotional barriers that might impact their learning.
Develop personalised lesson plans and strategies that cater to each student's individual academic and emotional needs.
Maintain open communication with both students and those involved in their care to track progress and adapt learning approaches.
We’re Looking For Someone Who :
Has experience working with students with SEMH needs, understanding the impact of emotional and mental health on learning.
Is passionate about creating a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident.
Has a strong understanding of mathematics and is capable of adapting lessons to suit students with varying levels of ability.
Holds relevant teaching qualifications or substantial experience in tutoring maths.
Is able to work collaboratively with other professionals, such as parents, school staff, or therapists, to ensure the holistic support of the student.
If you are a maths tutor who is passionate about helping students with SEMH needs build confidence, improve their academic skills, and overcome emotional barriers to learning, we’d love to hear from you!
