Job description

Grounds and Maintenance Operative - Wilmslow

Grounds & Maintenance Operative - The Coach & Four & Wilmslow Lodge, Wilmslow

Do you take pride in keeping things looking their best? Are you practical, hands-on and happy to turn your hand to a variety of jobs?

We're looking for a Grounds & Maintenance Operative to join our team at The Coach & Four in Wilmslow, supporting both the pub and our 36-bedroom Wilmslow Lodge.

This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their surroundings and likes seeing the results of a job well done.

What's on offer?

Salary: To be discussed, depending on experience

Plus a great range of benefits, including:

  • Weekly pay
  • Flexible working hours
  • Employee discounts platform
  • 24/7 access to an online GP
  • Paid breaks
  • Uniform or uniform allowance provided
  • 50% discount on food for up to 6 people
  • 50% discount on accommodation
  • Pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme offering 24/7 support and advice

What hours will you be working?

This is a part-time role, with up to 20 hours per week available.

We understand that everyone's availability is different, so we're happy to discuss a working pattern that suits you wherever possible.

What you'll be doing

As our Grounds & Maintenance Operative, you'll play an important role in keeping The Coach & Four and Wilmslow Lodge safe, well maintained and looking their best for our guests.

You'll be responsible for a variety of jobs across the pub, 36-bedroom lodge, gardens and outdoor areas, including:

  • Basic maintenance across the pub and lodge
  • Basic internal painting and touch-ups
  • General small repairs and fixings
  • Changing lightbulbs and carrying out minor maintenance tasks
  • Identifying and reporting larger maintenance issues that require specialist attention
  • Landscape and grounds maintenance, including weeding, pruning, hedge cutting, leaf blowing and litter picking
  • Keeping pathways and outdoor areas clean, tidy and well presented
  • Pathway gritting and minor snow clearance during the winter
  • Working in line with all Health & Safety requirements

About you

We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes real pride in their work.

You'll ideally have some experience of general maintenance, groundskeeping or similar work and be confident tackling a range of everyday jobs. You'll be comfortable working independently, using your own initiative and knowing when an issue needs to be passed on to a specialist.

Most importantly, you'll have a great work ethic, good attention to detail and a genuine pride in keeping your surroundings looking their best.

You'll need to be happy working both indoors and outdoors and be prepared to work in all weather conditions when looking after our grounds.

Your Place - The Coach & Four & Wilmslow Lodge

Located in the heart of Wilmslow, The Coach & Four is a popular and welcoming pub, complemented by our 36-bedroom Wilmslow Lodge.

With a busy pub, guest accommodation, gardens and outdoor areas all forming part of the site, this is a role that offers plenty of variety.

From keeping the grounds looking immaculate and the pathways safe, to making sure maintenance jobs are taken care of across the pub and lodge, you'll make a real difference to the appearance and day-to-day running of the property.
