Job description

Are you an experienced and compassionate Care Team Leader or Senior Care Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a high-quality residential care setting?

We are currently recruiting for a Care Team Leader (Days) to join a beautiful country house care home set within seven acres of landscaped gardens in Dawlish, South Devon.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, family-run residential care home with an outstanding local reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Rated "GOOD" by CQC, the home provides a warm, welcoming environment where both residents and staff are valued, supported and encouraged to thrive.

Working closely with the Care Manager, you will play a key role in leading the day team, ensuring outstanding standards of care are consistently delivered while supporting and developing your colleagues.

About the Home

Set within seven acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, this elegant country house offers a peaceful and homely environment for up to 36 elderly residents requiring residential care.

The home combines character and comfort with high standards of care, creating a supportive setting where residents are encouraged to maintain their independence while receiving personalised care tailored to their individual needs.

Residents benefit from a welcoming atmosphere where dignity, respect and wellbeing remain at the heart of everyday life.

The Ethos

The home is committed to delivering exceptional, person-centred care that enables every resident to enjoy a fulfilling, comfortable and independent lifestyle wherever possible.

As an independent, family-run service, there is a genuine focus on building meaningful relationships with residents, relatives and staff, creating a true home-from-home environment built on kindness, compassion and respect.

The Role

As Care Team Leader, you will lead the care team during your shift, ensuring high standards of care are maintained while providing guidance, support and leadership to colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the day shift to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Maintaining and continually improving the quality of care provided
  • Promoting dignity, independence and person-centred care at all times
  • Mentoring, supporting and supervising care staff through observations and coaching
  • Creating and updating electronic care plans and risk assessments
  • Assisting with rota management and ensuring shifts remain safely staffed
  • Liaising with GPs, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals
  • Supporting the Care Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, including covering additional shifts where required
  • Completing allocated leadership responsibilities during protected administration time

About You

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (essential)
  • Willingness to work towards Level 4 Leadership & Management following successful probation
  • Previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant or Care Team Leader within elderly residential care
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional, person-centred care
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills
  • Experience supporting and developing less experienced care staff
  • Organised, reliable and able to confidently lead a shift
  • Committed to maintaining the highest standards of care and resident wellbeing

In Return

  • Competitive hourly rate of £14.50 – £15.25 per hour
  • Full-time permanent days position (36–42 hours per week)
  • Protected administration time to complete leadership responsibilities
  • Opportunity to join a highly regarded, family-run residential care home
  • Supportive management team with excellent staff retention
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities
  • Beautiful countryside working environment in South Devon
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of residents every day

If you're an experienced Senior Care Assistant or Care Team Leader looking to join a caring, supportive and well-established home where quality comes first, we'd love to hear from you.
