An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and dynamic Senior Immunisation Nurse Specialist to join our Health Care Public Health Division within the Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy. We are seeking an individual who is committed to embedding public health principles into local delivery of immunisation programmes, including tackling inequalities in immunisation and working to increase uptake of vaccinations across the population of NHS Lothian.
The post-holder will join the Public Health Immunisation Team and will provide highly specialist immunisation advice to Allied Professionals in relation to complex clinical cases. The focus will include responding to complex clinical queries, complaints and supporting management of adverse incidents.
The postholder will act as a key liaison between clinical staff and management, providing leadership, support and expert guidance to support the delivery of safe, high quality and effective immunisation programmes. The postholder will work closely with other Allied Professionals, the four Health and Social Care Partnerships, a range of internal teams and groups, community and voluntary sector and national partners.
The successful candidate will have sound clinical expertise and experience, strong communication skills and have a passion for supporting the public health leadership of our immunisation programmes whilst working in an evolving and dynamic immunisation landscape.
The postholder will provide line management to the Immunisation Nurse Specialist.
The main departmental office base is presently at Waverly Gate but we are moving before the end of the year to offices at West Port. NHS Lothian currently operates an agile working model supporting a blend of working at home and days on site each week. The ability to work flexibility and from various locations throughout Lothian are also essential.
The department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland. The department is organised around Population Health, Healthcare Public Health and Health Protection as the three domains of public health.
There is a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary public health reflected in the range of staff within the department.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer / contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
