Overhaul Team Member - Single Skilled (Mechanical Fitter)

Contract Role : 18 Month

Location : Manchester Train Care Centre, Longsight, M12 4HR

Shift Pattern : 2 weeks of days, followed by 2 weeks of nights - on rotation.

Hours : 52hrs per week on days and 44hrs per week on nights. (48hrs average over a 4-week period)

Start and Finish times : (Subject to change at client's request)

Days : 07 : 00 - 18 : 00 / 07 : 00 - 15 : 00

Nights : 19 : 00 - 06 : 00 / 20 : 00 - 07 : 00

Pay :

Pre 12 weeks : PAYE £23.47 per hour / Umbrella £26.80 per hour

Post 12 weeks : PAYE £24.09 per hour / Umbrella £28.24 per hourAdditional Retainer : £1.00 per hour (paid upon project completion and return of tooling in satisfactory condition)

This role falls inside IR35 - payment via PAYE or Umbrella Company.

Join a team of 80+ skilled professionals at Manchester Train Care Centre, working on a major overhaul project for the Class 390 Avanti High Speed Trains. Purpose of the Role

You will be working as part of the overhaul team to service, maintain, repair and overhaul rolling stock and equipment, including the latest generation in train technology to laid down Vehicle Maintenance Instructions

Ensuring all Overhaul activities are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.

Key Responsibilities

All depot protection procedures

Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices, HASAW (Health and Safety at Work) and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Will adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current standard

Corrective maintenance (Mechanical)

Preventative maintenance (Mechanical)

Component exchange

General depot duties e.g. Line of Route audits

General housekeeping / 5s activities

SAP and SES input (Training dependant)

Crane driving and lifting equipment where training has been provided & competent

Mentoring others as and when required

Work in conjunction with our client's lifesaving rules

Comply with and enforce our clients Health and Safety policyQualifications & Skills

Time Served Apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualification

NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance (Or equivalent general qualification with mechanical inclusion)

Good verbal and written communication skills

Technical and IT SkillsExperience (one of the following desirable) :

Rolling stock (locomotives or rail vehicles) preferred

Military (REME or other Military Engineering)

Aerospace

Automotive vehicles such as HGV's, Buses, Lorries, Electric Vehicles, AutomobilesRequirements

Live within commuting distance of Manchester city centre
