Salary : £52,488 - £62,978

Location : 22 Devonshire Place, London

Job Type : 12 Months Fixed-Term Contract

Hours : 37.5 hours Monday - Friday

Are you a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care looking for your next challenge? This is a chance to step into a role where your expertise, compassion and leadership will have a direct and lasting impact on patients and families.

We are recruiting a Palliative Care and Symptom Control CNS to join our Specialist Palliative and Symptom Control Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will be based in our state-of-the-art Duchess of Devonshire Wing, part of The London Clinic's internationally respected cancer centre, where excellence, innovation and patient-centred care are at the heart of everything we do.

One of the UK's leading independent cancer centres, offering expert care across all tumour types with a strong reputation in stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy and novel systemic treatments.

Since 1932, we've delivered exceptional patient care across eight premises, including our main hospital and our purpose-built cancer centre. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing offers state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites, and 47 dedicated oncology and haematology beds.

The role

As a CNS in our specialist palliative care team, you will work closely with our Palliative Medicine Consultant and a fellow CNS to deliver expert, gold-standard care to patients with both malignant and non-malignant conditions. You will support patients and their families through complex care needs, drawing on your clinical expertise and emotional insight to ensure high-quality, person-centred support.

Key Duties

  • Conduct in-depth assessments addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
  • Develop and monitor individualised care plans in partnership with patients and families
  • Offer clinical advice and emotional support to colleagues and carers
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Support service development and contribute to staff training

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience in oncology and palliative care
  • At least one year in a CNS role within a palliative setting
  • A postgraduate qualification (completed or in progress) in palliative care
  • Confidence managing complex caseloads with a high level of autonomy
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A compassionate, proactive and professional approach to patient care
