Overview

We are looking for an experienced phlebotomist to join our developing multidisciplinary team. Experience in general practice is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.

Job responsibilities

• A Phlebotomist is responsible for taking blood samples from patients. Duties include preparing patients for blood collection and drawing blood safely.
• Use technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients.
• Explain the process to patients clearly and reassure those who may be nervous.
• Apply dressings to the puncture site and ensure patient comfort.
• Register blood samples and store them in the correct environment; send samples to testing laboratories.
• Keep track of blood samples and results; update patient records.
• Maintain an organised and clean work area in line with health and safety regulations and clinical guidelines.
• Answer patient questions regarding collection techniques and provide additional resources if requested.
