Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need it most?

A welcoming and dedicated Mental Health Specialist School in Oxford is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This school supports students aged 4-16 who have been excluded from mainstream education and require a nurturing, structured environment to help them thrive.

These students often struggle with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges and need guidance to build positive coping strategies, manage conflict, and regulate their emotions. Your role will be vital in helping them re-engage with learning and rebuild their confidence.

Your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant :

Supporting students one-to-one and in small groups with their behaviour and emotional needs

Helping students manage frustration, anxiety, and anger through positive behaviour strategies

Working closely with class teachers and therapists to deliver consistent, personalised support

Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and effective conflict resolution techniques

Acting as a calm, steady presence and positive role model throughout the school day

Encouraging student participation, engagement, and a sense of achievement

What you need to be a good Behaviour Support Assistant :

A compassionate, confident, and patient individual with a genuine passion for helping young people

Some experience working with children or young people is essential

Background in education, psychology, youth work, care, or similar is highly valued

Experience with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, or SEMH is an advantage
