Mechanical Design Engineer

ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

TERM- Permanent

LOCATION – Huddersfield

SALARY- £40,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures equipment for Water industry. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Huddersfield on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes :

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / Mechanical Engineering position

Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment

Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics would be beneficial

A background in Water related industries would also be ideal – Specifically waste water!

5+ years' experience with sheet metal design and manufacture

Be proficient using 3D CAD software, they use SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes

Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Proficient using MS Office

Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Mechanical Engineer role will involve :

Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings

Designing conveyors and other machinery in the Automation sector

Liaising with manufacturing providers and clients

Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans

Updating 3D models and drawings

Creating BOMs

Checking drawings for sign off

Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
