Head of Capital

Selby Jennings is partnered with a growing London Market insurer seeking a hands-on Head of Capital to build and own their model from the ground up. This is an opportunity for an experienced capital professional to design and implement the strategy, modelling, processes, and governance for a syndicate that is poised for expansion.

As Head of Capital, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the development, ownership, and maintenance of the Capital Model, including structure, parameterisation, documentation, and reporting.
• Driving the end‑to‑end capital planning cycle, including Lloyd's submissions, internal capital assessments, and solvency analyses.
• Partnering with Underwriting, Exposure Management, Finance, and Risk to embed capital insights into business planning and decision‑making.
• Overseeing and delivering all regulatory interactions relating to capital, ensuring compliance with Lloyd's standards and model governance expectations.
• Building a flexible, efficient, and auditable capital modelling framework that supports syndicate growth.
• Presenting capital results, sensitivities, and recommendations to the Executive and Board.
• Over time, recruiting, developing, and leading a high‑performing capital team to support a growing syndicate.

A strong candidate will bring:

• Significant capital modelling experience within the Lloyd's or wider London Market (e.g., Syndicate, Managing Agency, or consultancy environment).
• Deep understanding of Lloyd's capital framework, regulatory expectations, and internal model processes.
• Proven ability to build, enhance, or independently run capital models.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex results clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating as an individual contributor, especially in early stages.
