Salary : 51,883 - 55,690 (pro rata), depending on experience

We are now looking for experienced Autism Assessors to join our growing neurodevelopmental team, contributing to the delivery of gold-standard autism assessments for children and young people.

The Role

As an Autism Assessor, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver autism assessments in line with NICE guidance and national best practice. Most assessments will be conducted in-person in agreed clinic spaces in the Manchester area, with flexibility for some remote work depending on the patient needs.

You will :

  • Conduct structured developmental interviews with parents / carers (e.g. ADI-R, ACE).
  • Deliver play-based and observational assessments with children and young people (e.g. ADOS-2).
  • Contribute to diagnostic decision-making through multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions.
  • Liaise with schools and other professionals to gather collateral information.
  • Write clear, child-centred clinical reports that reflect the strengths, needs, and any diagnosis.
  • Provide feedback to families sensitively and clearly.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and reflective practice.
  • Help shape and improve our autism assessment pathway as we grow.

Who Were Looking For

You are a compassionate and skilled clinician with experience in autism assessments and a commitment to family-centred care. You will be comfortable working independently but also value collaborative input from your multidisciplinary colleagues.

Essential :

Professional qualification and registration in one of the following :

  • Clinical, Counselling, Educational Psychologist (HCPC)
  • Occupational Therapist (HCPC)
  • Speech and Language Therapist (HCPC)
  • Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse (NMC)
  • Paediatrician (GMC)
  • At least 2 years experience in autism assessments for children and young people.
  • Experience with one or more of the following : ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3Di, ACE.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and ethical clinical practice.
  • Clear Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Desirable :

  • Trained in ADOS-2 and / or developmental history tools (e.g. ADI-R).
  • Knowledge of co-occurring conditions and differential diagnoses.
  • Experience in neurodevelopmental or CAMHS settings.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary working and NICE guidance.
  • Ability to adapt assessments for online delivery where appropriate.
