Job description

Overview

Job title : Community Supervisor (One Year Fixed-term)

Employer : TES FE News

Contract : Fixed-term one year, 37 weeks per year, term-time only. Hours : 4.5 hours per day (11 : 00am–4 : 00pm), Monday to Friday. Lunch break : 2 : 35pm–3 : 05pm. Salary : £15 per hour. Start date : September 2025. Closing Date : Wednesday, 1 October 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Support the safety, wellbeing and behaviour of students during school hours, including supervising wet lunchtimes.
  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures; work in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Act on own initiative when appropriate and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and promote a positive, welcoming school environment.
  • Take responsibility for a class during designated supervision times as required.
  • Be accountable to the Estates & Operations Director / Vice Principal.

Requirements / Ideal Candidate

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow regulations and processes.
  • Ability to be firm but fair and to act on own initiative.
  • Commitment to the ethos of high expectations and delivery; focus on student safety and wellbeing.
  • Good attendance and ability to work well in a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, meal supervision and behaviour policies; ability to implement school policies locally.
  • Ability to take responsibility for a class during wet lunchtimes; high expectations of children’s behaviour.
  • Experience in a school environment is advantageous but not required.
