REG is looking for someone to take the lead on our social media presence and design posters/graphics to promote REG events.

Detailed description

Social media and design (one or two volunteers)

Royston Environmental Group is a volunteer-run group that aims to improve the environment in the Royston area and globally. We want to bring together the residents of the Royston area and foster a better understanding of environmental issues and what you can do to help. We organise a variety of events and initiatives from Green Festivals to litter picks to Plastic Free Royston. Collaboration with other local groups and institutions is key to what we do.

These two roles could be combined into one or performed by two separate individuals, as desired.

REG is looking for someone to take the lead on our social media presence and design posters/graphics to promote REG events. This is an important role, helping REG to keep in touch with our members and to reach a wider audience in Royston and beyond.

This is an ongoing role and can be flexible to the volunteer(s)’s schedule. The time commitment is around 1 hour/fortnight, but will vary depending on when REG events are happening. You will be comfortable using social media and design software such as Canva. This role could be divided between 2 people working together (1 person focused on designing graphics and posters, 1 person handling social media).

Social media

REG’s Facebook page currently has 406 followers. The page is used to share event details, reminders, calls for volunteers, and pictures following events, as well as items thought to be of general interest to members.

You will lead on social media promotion for REG events such as:

• Christmas jumper swap
• Plastic-free picnic
• Litter picks tailored to special occasions
• Community garden
• Home thermal imaging surveys
• Other events TBC

You will post regular messages and reminders in the lead-up to REG events to ensure as many people as possible become aware of them. This can be done by planning scheduling posts ahead of time.

Design

Graphics of different dimensions will be required for the different media and will need to be created as needed and to include REG branding and contact points.
