Lead Shift Engineer (multi-skilled) opportunity at ReFood’s third state of the art Anaerobic Digestion and Cat 3 transfer station in Dagenham. This is a full-time, permanent position with an average of 42 hours per week on a 12-hour shift pattern : 4 on / 4 off (4 days on, 4 days off, then 4 nights).
The ReFood AD plants process a variety of food wastes to produce renewable energy, heat and ReGrow, a fertiliser for local farms, while recycling food waste packaging. The plants provide an environmentally sustainable solution for waste producers seeking to divert food waste from landfill.
Responsibilities
- Lead the shift maintenance team, providing both reactive and proactive, highly skilled maintenance on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
- Follow and complete (sign off) planned maintenance (PMs, RMs & CMs) and oversee timely completion of work carried out.
- Increase site operational effectiveness, improve project delivery, mean times between failure and downtime reduction, and manage improvement plans; drive KPIs ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met.
- Participate in projects, continuous improvement and modern manufacturing practices by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
- Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and to schedule planned service maintenance; request and check RAMS, induct personnel, provide permits to work and oversee contractor work on site to ensure safety.
- Carry out risk assessments of routine maintenance procedures and unplanned works.
- Ensure maintenance staff take responsibility for their work environment and that all tools are maintained and accounted for.
- Coordinate with the SHEQ team to resolve H&S issues, environmental, internal audits, GMP, COSHH and ISO quality issues; ensure all compliance checks are completed and correctly filed.
- Attend nominated training modules as necessary.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the ReFood Management Team.
Requirements
Hold a recognised apprenticeship.Hold a minimum CGLI or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.Solid engineering background with experience in a process environment (advantageous if in the AD industry).Excellent Health & Safety knowledge.Previous experience within a Team Leader role, with the ability to mentor, motivate and lead others.Dual skilled mechanical / electrical is desirable but not essential.Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent organisational skills.Good IT skills, including Microsoft packages and Outlook.Self-motivated and conscientious with the desire and ability to learn and develop.Ability to make decisions to maximise team performance, prioritise workload and deliver on time.Analytical approach to problem solving and ability to communicate professionally at all levels.Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Employment details
