Addictions Clinical & Assessment Support Worker
Job Summary : As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Addictions Clinical & Assessment Support Worker will provide drug and alcohol assessments, brief interventions, preparing prescriptions for printing and recording on FP10 records. Participating in the care planning, provision and evaluation of patients\' needs under the supervision of trained staff. The clinical support worker will embed recovery values within the service setting, act as an ambassador of recovery, promote learning opportunities for the multidisciplinary teams, and work with external agencies and partner organisations. The role includes leading the provision of information and a range of learning opportunities across the Addictions Directorate. Work is under the supervision of line management. The postholder will engage service users in structured treatment, complete triage and assessments in a timely manner, and liaise with external teams as needed (e.g., the Alcohol Care Team at West Middlesex Hospital when referring patients to ARC Hounslow).
Responsibilities
- The postholder will take a predominant role in providing duty and full comprehensive assessments to clients who are referred or present to the service.
- Contribute to reviewing and processing all referrals presented to the ARC team via emails or self-referral.
- Assess and triage drug-using clients discharged from hospital, applying harm minimisation principles and providing support to the clinical team in bridging treatment gaps in the community.
- Use agreed Outcome Monitoring Tools (e.g. TOPS, CRFs) and other relevant quality measures.
- Apply motivational interviewing, relapse management and other evidence-based interventions.
- Ensure full risk assessment and risk management is delivered effectively, under supervision.
- Follow local and national quality and performance standards, guidance, protocols, procedures and practice guidelines.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, including the Serious Incident policy.
- Prepare, print and log prescriptions for the team under supervision of the clinical team.

Essential – Education and Qualifications : NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care; Basic Level 2 in English and Maths; commitment to ongoing learning and mandatory training.Desirable – Accredited certificate in Life Coaching; training in Dual diagnosis; DANOS compliant courses; Motivational Interviewing.Experience – Essential : experience working with people with substance use issues; experience in mental health and / or addictions settings; experience developing individual care plans; experience working in a team; experience working in a multicultural environment.Desirable – Group work; voluntary experience in addictions and / or mental health.Skills and knowledge
Knowledge of client recovery and treatment pathways in addictions; good interpersonal and listening skills; ability to build relationships with service users and carers; ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.Desirable : basic food hygiene, basic first aid, health and safety awareness, local service awareness, knowledge of benefits / employment systems.Attitudes and personal characteristics
