About the role As a Post Office Counter Clerk you’ll provide exceptional customer service to connect people across miles and time, to organise travel money and documents, and to take care of bills and banking. A few personal Notes about being at us here at the Hanley branch. Being part of the Post Office is more than just sending a parcel! We process business banking's here, so counting accuracy is a must. We do a large amount of government services (SIA, DVLA, Passports, Identity Checks), so keeping customer data secure is a top priority, also it may at times feel difficult to turn to a customer away for something as simple as only having a bank statement online vs printed from the branch, but we have laws and policies we must adhere to. It's down to you to pull these things through. Having a thicker skin can come in multiple parts, protecting your job, ensuring the customer gets what they need, and dealing with the unfortunate few we get that decide to speak loudly against us. It's not just customer service, plenty of paperwork to keep you busy! Using your best judgement between serving and keeping your stock units in check. I was a multi-site manager until I hit a personal problem, I plan to get back to that! So although the hours are a 12 hour basic, there will be more available as I go out to other branches. If you are willing to travel or do the retail side of TG Jones, then we regularly have hours for Stone, Uttoxeter, Sandbach etc. (If willing to travel further even in Leeds! , All expenses paid and can be talked about further during interview).
