The Role
Oxford City Council have a great opportunity for an experienced surveyor to work within its Property Services team as an Area Property Officer
This varied, fast-paced role covers all aspects of the social housing functions within our busy Property Services team, maintaining the City Council's social housing stock and associated areas.
You will be taking the lead on all repairs, compliance, planned maintenance and capital works within a defined geographical area of our city.
You will take full ownership for all property-related issues and queries in your area with effective estate ownership. You will spend time getting to know the people and properties for which you are responsible, ensuring that our tenants have safe, secure, well-maintained and compliant places to live.
Working with teams across the organisation, you will take ownership of tenants’ complaints, concerns and comments, working hard to find solutions and ensuring communication is at the forefront of everything we do.
You will fulfil the client-side role, commissioning works and monitoring the output of the council’s appointed contractors, including our wholly-owned subsidiary, Oxford Direct Services.
Experience in managing varied workstreams and commissioning contractors is vital to this role, reporting on exceptions and ensuring that agreed timescales and quality are achieved.
You will be one of three Area Property Officers, working collaboratively, to ensure that we are consistent in our approach. Your work will require you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will maintain records and provide reports to the HRA Manager on progress. You will also contribute to the creation of future programmed work. and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
You will bring enthusiasm, energy and a “can do” attitude to the role. Helping to create a service that is agile and fit for purpose now and for the future.
You will have demonstrable knowledge of current property legislation, including but not limited to, damp and mould, section 20 process, compliance, disrepair and decent homes.
