Overview

Learning Support Assistant – Southampton

Full Time | Immediate Start | £13.68 per hour

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive secondary school in Southampton. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support, both 1 : 1 and in small groups, and assist within the classroom to ensure every child can access their education fully.
  • Support students with learning and social development needs.
  • Provide 1 : 1 and small group interventions to boost progress.
  • Assist teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging classroom.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and a strong work ethic.
  • Help pupils build confidence and resilience in their learning.

Ideal Candidate

  • Have prior experience supporting children or young people (school-based experience desirable).
  • Show patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Be adaptable and committed to supporting diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
