Design & Technology Teacher - Lambeth, South London 🛠️

We're searching for a Design & Technology (D&T) Teacher to join a progressive and well-equipped secondary school in Lambeth. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and skilled educator to inspire students through hands-on, practical learning. The school prides itself on its strong D&T department, which has excellent facilities and a focus on fostering innovation and problem-solving skills.

The Role

The school is looking for a qualified D&T Teacher who can teach across all key stages, from KS3 to A-Level. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a range of specialisms, such as resistant materials, product design, or textiles. You will be responsible for :

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging D&T lessons that blend practical making with theoretical knowledge.
  • Developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum that incorporates traditional skills with modern technologies like CAD / CAM, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
  • Maintaining a safe and productive workshop environment, ensuring all students are confident in using tools and machinery.
  • Mentoring students and supporting them in their coursework and personal design projects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve the department's resources and curriculum.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have :

  • A degree in Design & Technology or a related field (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, or Architecture).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a PGCE.
  • Proven experience teaching Design & Technology at the secondary level, with a strong ability to teach at A-Level .
  • A passion for the subject and the ability to inspire a diverse range of students.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

    The salary for this position is competitive and will be paid to the MPS / UPS scale (Inner London pay scale), commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Salaries for teachers in London are generally higher than the national average to account for the higher cost of living.
