Job Title : SEN Teacher - KS1 Curriculum

Location : Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire

Contract Type : Full-Time, Permanent

Salary : M1 – M6 (dependent on experience)

Role Overview :

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Teacher in Leyland, Nr. Preston, where the school provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities :

To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day-to-day running of the school.
To assess, record, and report pupils’ progress according to the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, including Professional Development Reviews.
To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, and any other relevant staff meetings.
To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring their health and well-being, and informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team, and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.

Experience :

PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.

At least 2 years of Teaching Experience with completion of ECT.

Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.

Evidence of sound knowledge of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.

Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
