Job description

Job Title : SEN Teacher - KS1 Curriculum

Location : Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire

Contract Type : Full-Time, Permanent

Salary : M1 – M6 (dependent on experience)

Role Overview :

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Teacher in Leyland, Nr. Preston, where the school provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities :

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day-to-day running of the school.
  • To assess, record, and report pupils’ progress according to the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
  • To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, including Professional Development Reviews.
  • To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, and any other relevant staff meetings.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring their health and well-being, and informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team, and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.

Experience :

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • At least 2 years of Teaching Experience with completion of ECT.
  • Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
  • Evidence of sound knowledge of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
