Overview
A well-established regional law firm with a nationally recognised Agricultural Team (Legal 500) is seeking a proactive Agricultural Property Lawyer. This is a flexible role offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of agricultural property matters and contribute to the growth of the team.
The Role
The successful candidate will support and develop an existing caseload of agricultural work, including :
Farm Business Tenancies and Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies
Acquisition and disposal of farms and rural property
Client and agent liaison
Utility company easements and transfers
Advising the Renewables Team on agricultural property matters
Preparation of auction packs
Exchange, completion, and post-completion work, including Stamp Duty Land Tax, Companies House, and Land Registry filings
You will also work in line with the firms Marketing Policy to enhance the reputation of the Agricultural Team and generate new business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide ongoing service to existing clients
Work with Partners and other Fee Earners to develop new business
Develop and enhance the Agricultural Team, maximising cross-referrals across offices and practice areas
Produce fee income in line with targets and objectives
Stay informed of changes in law and practice in your area
Maintain and enhance legal skills
Manage financial control of caseload, including billing and collection of monies on account
Keep accurate daily records of time spent on client and internal work
Perform fee-earning work accurately and reliably in line with company quality and risk procedures
Person Specification
Essential
Legal qualification or relevant experience, with a strong interest in agricultural law
Residential, commercial, or agricultural property experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong planning and organisational skills
Ability to work confidently and independently
Marketing and business development skills
Presentation and public speaking skills
High level of integrity, professionalism, and client focus
Flexible approach and willingness to travel between offices
Desirable
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and high computer literacy
Understanding of Solicitors Account Rules and Money Laundering Regulations
Experience with case management systems, such as Visual Files or SOS Connect
