Senior Staff Nurse – Enhanced Care Unit

Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital, Wimbledon | Nursing - ECU | Permanent | Full time 37.5 hours

As a Senior Staff Nurse in our Enhanced Care unit at our Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital, you will hold the relevant qualifications, have a wealth of proven experience, and will have NMC registration. The ECU bridges the gap for patients who require closer monitoring whilst in post-operative recovery but do not require the full resources of intensive care. You will therefore use your advanced clinical, interpersonal, and leadership skills to manage patients with more complex needs. You will communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to changing clinical situations.

Key skills in this role include critical thinking, advanced technical procedures, compassionate communication, empathy, problem-solving, and the ability to manage stress and lead a team.

You will bring knowledge of mentoring and multi-specialty surgical procedures. Ideally, you hold qualifications in teaching and assessment, and management.

Responsibilities

• As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will : Lead by example and be an ambassador for the Nuffield Health way of caring
• Recognise talent and nurture junior colleagues, mentoring them to be the best they can be
• Use your excellent clinical skills and empathetic approach to meet each patient’s needs
• Enjoy autonomy to make decisions that ensure excellent patient care
• Provide day-to-day supervision, including clinical supervision of junior nursing staff and students
• Contribute to scheduling and rotas, recruitment, induction, performance reviews and training
