Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 30am–3 : 45pm, term time only

Training : Full education, training, and CPD provided

This 1 : 1 Learning Support Assistant role is based in a mainstream primary school in Hackney and involves supporting a pupil with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) , a profile within the autism spectrum. This role is particularly well suited to graduates or aspiring teachers who want to gain deep, hands-on classroom experience while developing the skills required for a future career in education.

You will work closely with one pupil throughout the school day, supporting their learning, emotional regulation, and engagement with the curriculum using flexible, low-demand, relationship-based approaches. The school promotes inclusive practice and values creative, child-led strategies that allow pupils with additional needs to thrive in a mainstream environment.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate :

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

This role offers an excellent stepping stone into teaching, providing daily classroom exposure, practical SEN experience, and a strong understanding of inclusive practice that will support future teacher training.
