Overview
As a Field Service Mechanical Supervisor, you will travel to power plants across the UK and worldwide, supporting both internal and external customers. You will supervise the installation, stripdown, inspection, maintenance activities, and reassembly of power units and their auxiliaries, ranging from 2MW to 2000MW. Your mission is to deliver world-class execution safely, on budget, and with the highest quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties of a Nominated Supervisor or Nominated Competent Person as required in the Safe System of Work, review Work Permits, and ensure safety from the system through isolations before commencing work.
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and their implementation, management and monitoring of Putting People Safely To Work.
- Conduct daily walk-downs of work areas (Hazard Hunts) and document findings in Gen Suite.
- Ensure all equipment and tooling used by your team is certified and fit for purpose, reporting any defects.
- Attend site briefings as required, relaying back information to your team.
- Manage internal and external craft personnel, ensuring compliance with company Safety & Quality processes, procedures, and Health & Safety legislation.
- Ensure adequate and efficient use of materials, tooling and resources.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Understand all aspects of mechanical engineering measuring techniques to very high tolerances and standards; monitor measurements.
- Adhere to outage schedules; assist with coordinating and prioritising critical path activities.
- Assist in managing Quality Control documentation, including filling in Quality documents and Inspection Record Sheets.
- Assist in managing shift log books and outage schedules (activities, events, agreements, problems, work completed, etc.).
- Assess craft labour and provide feedback on performance.
- Maintain strong communication with site management.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical studies or Recognised Time-Served Apprenticeship or City & Guilds.Extensive knowledge of large rotating and static machinery, knowledge of steam turbines and generator technology.Technical competence in reading and interpreting engineering documents, technical and quality instructions, safety documentation, and engineering drawings.Willingness to travel extensively for projects and various field assignments.Valid driving license.Desired Characteristics
ECITB Supervisory Accreditations.IOSH or NEBOSH certifications.HNC or HND Education.Strong individual and team skills and behaviours.Experience and training on Alstom, GE, Siemens, or other OEM equipment.Strong organizational skills.Strong leadership skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Seniority level
