Job Description

We are looking for a Transport Supervisor for our client based in Stockport. Working Monday to Thursday, 11 : 00am to 9 : 00pm; Friday, 9 : 00am to 7 : 00pm you will be responsible for our clients busy transport Operations

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and organised HGV Transport Planner to manage and optimise the daily planning of heavy goods vehicle operations. The role focuses on efficient route planning, driver scheduling, compliance with transport legislation, and delivering a reliable, cost-effective transport service.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily and weekly HGV routes to maximise efficiency and vehicle utilisation
• Allocate drivers and vehicles in line with operational requirements
• Ensure compliance with driver hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph regulations
• Monitor vehicle movements and respond to delays, breakdowns, or last‑minute changes
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams
• Optimise routes to reduce fuel costs, mileage, and emissions
• Ensure all transport activities comply with health, safety, and legal requirements
• Maintain accurate transport records, reports, and KPIs
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the transport operation
